Nigeria may have some of the largest churches and preachers most popular on the African continent, but a new report has revealed that it is among the most dangerous countries for Christians in West Africa. .
The annual report of the Open Doors World Watch List, a global watchdog, ranked Nigeria 12th out of 50 countries where it is most dangerous to follow Jesus.
According to the report, Nigeria, with its huge congregations and numerous prosperity theologians, is home to more than 91 million Christians.
However, he recorded a violence score mainly because of the increasing attacks on Christian communities by Fulani militant herders.
Nigeria has Christianity and Islam as its main religions.
Listed by Mali, West African country (ranked 24th) on the list, it has emerged as the most unwelcome place for Christians in West Africa.
"These attacks claimed the lives of hundreds of believers during the reporting period, and villages and churches were burned to the ground," the report said.
"In addition, in some areas of northern Nigeria, Christians are treated as second-clbad citizens, Christians of Muslim descent are persecuted by their own families."

The report also urged Christians around the world to pray for their Nigerian counterparts, who are facing increasing hostility and attacks from Haoussa-Fulani militant shepherds.
"Pray for Fulani activists, members of Boko Haram and other extremist groups, pray that God touch their hearts with His truth.
"Often, the Nigerian government has been accused of being slow or reluctant to confront attacks on Christians, pray for courage and for peace."
Last December, a Nigerian bishop, William Amove Avenya, of the Diocese of Gboko, declared that attacks on Christians had become a forgotten tragedy and posed a much greater threat to the Christian community in Nigeria than Islamist terrorism.
He added that Muslim-majority shepherds killed more people in 2018 than the Islamist terrorist group Boko Haram.
"But no one is doing anything about it," he says.
According to the 2018 Global Index of Terrorism, Fulani extremists reportedly killed 1,700 people in Nigeria between January and September of this year.
World ranking
For the 18th year in a row, the Atheist Republic of North Korea has been ranked among the most anti-Christian countries.
The atheistic nation was followed on the list by the Moslem nations; Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya and Pakistan.
Sudan, Eritrea, Yemen, Iran and India complete the top 10.
