Nigeria sets date to reopen schools

The Nigerian government announced that schools across the country will reopen on Monday.

The education ministry said the decision was made after extensive consultations with governors and stakeholders.

Last week, the Minister of Education suggested that the planned reopening of schools could be put on hold due to the increase in Covid-19 cases.

Nigeria is currently struggling with a second wave of the pandemic. It has recorded more than 1,360 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

More than 100,000 cases of the virus have been confirmed in the country since February last year.
