A 29-year-old Nigerian, Solomon Okpewho, who stabbed a lady three times and stole her purse was sentenced Friday to 15 years imprisonment by an Accra circuit court.

The purse contained the sum of GHC200.00, the Infinix Hot Five mobile phone and a national health insurance plan card.
Okpewho, accused of robbery and injury, pleaded guilty.

The court presided over by Mr. Aboagye Tandoh found him guilty and sentenced him accordingly.
Continuing, Chief Inspector Samuel Ahiabor said that the plaintiff Monica Kreberi was a waitress residing at Tse Addo in La Accra, while the convicted unemployed did not have a fixed address.

Chief Inspector Ahiabor said on March 22 this year that the complainant had gone down to the EXOPA bus stop in Tse Addo and that she was returning home.
Okpewho arrived from nowhere and attacked the complainant with force to threaten to hand over her purse.

The Prosecutor stated that the complainant refused, which led to a fight between the two men. Okpewho took out a knife and stabbed the complainant three times on her left arm, where the bag was hanging.

The prosecution stated that Okpewho had mastered the applicant and had managed to take the bag containing the above items and to take him on his heels.

Mr Ahiabor stated that the applicant had sounded the alarm and that the crowd had openly chased the convict. At the same time, Okpewho went to hide behind a building.

The prosecution said that Okpewho was finally arrested and handed over to the police.

At the time of the police investigation, the objects of the complainant had been recovered, with the exception of the money GHC200.00.

The prosecution said that Okpewho had confessed to the crime during the investigation.

The prosecution stated that the complainant had received a medical report form from the police allowing him to seek treatment in a health facility.
