The state media of Ondo, in southwestern Nigeria, dropped out on Thursday while a snake fell off the roof, local media reports said.
Members were about to start the day's work when the snake fell from a hole in the ceiling, thus ending the workday as lawmakers and spectators fled into the gallery.
MP quoted by Premium Times online newspaper
, said that the snake had bit nobody and had been "finally killed and burned". According to another report, the snake escaped, unharmed.
"This room is no longer safe for legislative work and because of that, we have decided to suspend the meeting for an indefinite period.The House will suspend its work for an indefinite period," said Olugbenga MP Omole, quoted in Premium Times.
The fumigation of the complex is scheduled for Friday, in the absence of lawmakers.
