Nigerian community in Ghana insists that crimes committed by Nigerian criminals can not continue
The Nigerian community in Ghana volunteered to help the Ghana Police Service eliminate Nigerian miscreants and criminals from the country.
The group also promised to report suspected criminals, if possible, in order to maintain good neighborliness between Ghana and Nigeria.
The involvement of foreign nationals, particularly Nigerians, in criminal activities in Ghana continues to increase at an alarming rate.
Hardly a crime reported without the mention of Nigerians.
Nigerians involved in crimes in the country appear to have reached the crescendo as a result of kidnappings in the Western and Greater Accra regions, all related to Nigerians.
Just last week, police in Accra rescued a prominent Lebanese kidnapped by suspected Nigerians who are currently on the run.
At least two Nigerians have already been arrested in connection with the kidnappings.
The Nigerian community in Ghana insists they can not continue.
The community maintained the development if it were not verified could harm the cordial relations between the two countries.
Oloye Yemi Fatuyi, Business and Projects Advisor to the Nigerian Business Forum, is committed to supporting the police in every way possible.
"We are here to support [Ghana Police Service]," he said.
"We are not professionals like you. We are not police officers but we can give you information. We can get the information in our communities and pbad it on to you. "
He admitted that Nigerians involved in crimes will not be satisfied with the position taken by the community, but they are determined to report tramps even if it will require them to reveal the identity of their family at home in Nigeria.
Acting Regional Police Commander of Accra, DCOP Kweku Boadu Peprah, welcomed the decision of well-meaning Nigerians
DCOP Peprah has meanwhile made efforts to find the perpetrators of the abduction of Lebanese.
