Odododiodio Constituency MP Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye urged Ghanaian police to speed up their search for the perpetrators of the Jamestown attack.

A police officer escorting a bullion van was shot dead in a theft on June 14 while Afua Badu, a lady who tried to sound the alarm about the attack, was later shot dead by one of the thieves.

The robbers managed to escape with an unspecified sum of money on three motorcycles.

Speaking in an interview with JoyNews, the parliamentarian noted that residents in the area are now afraid to go about their daily activities.

Nii Lante Vanderpuye wants police to reveal details of their investigations so far to allay anxiety in the community.

“It is a little worrying because it made the inhabitants of the district uncomfortable because the least feared district now sleeps around 6 pm and the shops are closed”, declared the Member of Parliament for Odododiodio.

He added: “We expect that by then the police will come out and make statements to put the families at ease. I hope the police will be able to do this.

Meanwhile, some media have revealed that four thieves have been arrested in connection with the Jamestown attack.
