Nikon Corp. said Foxconn Technology Group has asked for a delay in the installation of equipment at the Taiwanese company's new liquid crystal display (LCD) plant in Guangzhou, southern China.

Nikon also said Thursday that a customer or customers in China had postponed their orders for equipment producing semiconductors and that it had reduced their sales prospects for the market for the first time. fiscal year ending in March.
The company has raised its outlook for annual operating income due to an exceptional profit resulting from a court settlement with ASML. But the darkest forecasts on the chip equipment market, coupled with the decline in digital camera sales, drove down Nikon's stock by more than 10% on Friday.

"We will commemorate the installation of the first exhibition system in Guangzhou later this month, and other updates will be communicated later," he added.
Foxconn announced the construction of a $ 8.8 billion plant in Guangzhou in 2016, hoping to start its operations by 2019 in order to meet the expected increase in demand for big screen TVs and monitors in Asia.
Nikon is one of the leading suppliers of lithography systems for so-called Gen-10.5 factories, such as Foxconn's Guangzhou project, which specializes in large-screen flat-panel displays.
