RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – There are up to nine suspected cases of mumps in Hidalgo County.
County officials say these are suspected cases where there are clinical signs but are still waiting for the final test.
They work with state, local and federal agencies to remedy this situation. Officials also added that small outbreaks are not uncommon, but it is unusual for young children to be more susceptible to mumps, but now the suspected cases are young adults.
County officials added that "because of the incubation period of the disease, you can expect that more cases will be reported in the coming days and weeks." .

Olivarez also insists that there is no link between confirmed and suspected cases of mumps and the immigration situation.
