Ningo Prampam MP Sam Nartey George Ningo Prampam MP Sam Nartey George

Leaders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ningo-Prampram disowned their MP Sam George following his claims that anonymous lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) anonymous swore to overthrow him during the party’s next parliamentary primaries if he continues. to attack them.

According to a statement released by Shehu Usman Mohammed, Deputy Constituency Communications Officer Shehu Usman Mohammed, the MP’s claim regarding LGBTQI is false and should be ignored.

He claimed the MP only wanted to court sympathy votes ahead of the party primaries.

“We have taken note of the Hon. Sam George, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, that he received a call from an unknown person who [LGBTQ people] use their financial power to ensure that it [Sam George] He may lose in the next parliamentary primary elections in his constituency so that he can no longer be heard in the country.

“The deputy would have made this assertion on GHOne TV last week … We find that this assertion is based on a mischief and a simple lie calculated to tarnish the image of the one who will challenge the deputy during our next primaries in the eyes of all. good citizens in the constituency.

“Obviously the pretense is to ensure that those who will not be able to see through this lie come to the conclusion in the next party constituency primaries that the Hon. Sam George’s opponent is funded by the LGBTQ group. In doing so, the vast majority of Ghanaians in the constituency who are fiercely against this type of devaluing of sexual orientation will automatically rally to his cause against anyone who disputes it, ”said Shehu Mohammed.

The statement added: “You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see through the inferior tactics employed by the MP. Why will LGBTQ people only target him when he is not the only MP to speak out against their attempt to have their activities in Ghana recognized and legalized? It is a fact that some MPs on both sides of the political divide, including the Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Head of the NDC Caucus in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, the Hon. Mahama Ayariga, who is MP for Bawku Central, the Hon. Clement Apaak, MP for Builsa Sud, the Hon. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin-South, and the Honorable Adwoa Sarfo, Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, have all spoken out publicly against LGBTQ attempts to gain a foothold in Ghana. Wide canvas. Why didn’t they get the same call from LGBTQ threatening to make sure they lose in their next primaries either?

“Hon. Sam George should stop lying and trying to smear honest people who want to challenge him. We call on Ghanaians, especially NDC supporters in Ningo-Prampram constituency to ignore our MP’s claim, which is a figment of his own imagination. There is no way that a group such as LGBTQ will play a secretive or open role in party primaries in the constituency because the next constituency primaries will be challenged, as has always been the case, by constituencies. men and women of high moral character. standards that will cringe at the very idea. When the time comes, that any citizen who wishes to participate in the primaries do so without leaving or hindering. He or she should not be put off by the Hon. Sam George’s false statement, ”the statement concluded.

The statement follows bad blood flowing between leaders and lawmakers over his alleged derogatory comments suggesting that delegates may be influenced by the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI) community to vote against him during the next primary.

According to him, after making his comments on television on Friday, February 19, he received a call the next day from an unknown person who told him that they [LGBTQ], would use their financial power to ensure that he, Sam George, loses the next parliamentary primaries he could play in his constituency.

“You know when I first spoke last week Friday on a TV network, over the weekend; I got a call and that’s what pissed me off and made me do everything to fight hard. Someone told me that look, did I [Sam George] know how rich the LGBTQI community is and that they will bring money and make sure that the platform I have as an MP gives me the right to speak… they will meet me at my primaries ”, the MP said on GHOne TV.
