Nintendo: Annual Report: 32 million switching consoles in circulation, but sales forecasts are down; Smash Bros. strong

Nintendo announced in its latest annual report that 32.27 million switching consoles in total have been sold worldwide since its launch on the market (from March 2017 to the end of December 2018). Just for the Christmas business from October to December 2018, 9.41 million consoles were sold.

During the current fiscal year (from April 2018 to March 2019), Nintendo actually wanted to sell 20 million devices, but this goal has now reduced its business. Nintendo badumes 17 million sales of switches. From April to December 2018, 14.49 switching units have already been sold, an increase of 19.5% over the previous year. The Nintendo 3DS (including the Nintendo 2DS) is sold at 2.31 million copies (the year before: 5.86 million). Sales forecasts for 3DS have been reduced from 4 million to 2.6 million. The two retro mini consoles (Nintendo Clbadic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System and Nintendo Clbadic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System) have been sold 5.83 million times since the launch of the market.

Nintendo software sales from April 2018 to December 2018 doubled compared to the previous year (94.64 million euros). Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, in particular, has had a significant impact with 12.08 million sales since December 2018. Pokmon: Let's go, Pikachu! and Pokmon: Let's go, Evoli! are at 10 million. Super Mario Party has been able to sell more than 5.3 million times. Mobile business revenue increased 14.7% to 33.3 billion yen. Dragalia Lost is mentioned as particularly strong.

From January to March 2019, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and Yoshi's Crafted World are cited as important software titles, as well as software from other vendors. "Our goal is to expand the platform's user base with new titles and to increase sales of popular titles already on the market," says the annual report.

From April 2018 to December 2018, Nintendo achieved a profit of 168.76 billion yen, an increase of 24.9% over the previous year. The turnover amounts to 997.3 billion yen (about 8 billion euros). The increase in sales was 16.4%.
