Nintendo has lowered sales forecasts for its Switch game console, despite the dynamism of its Christmas market.

The Japanese video game specialist has sold about 9.4 million switched devices during the last quarter. But the original goal of selling 20 million consoles by the end of March was no longer feasible: after nine months, Nintendo is more than 14.5 million. Now the forecasts have been reduced to 17 million devices. Still, Nintendo is very competitive with Sony's Playstation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One.

Good switch demand brought Nintendo a 104.9 billion yen (840 million euro) profit at the box office during the Christmas quarter, almost a quarter of what it was a year ago. Sales rose 26% to 608.4 billion yen (about 4.88 billion euros).

The previous console's failure "Wii U" had previously plunged the company temporarily into the red and the crisis. With the switch, which can be used both at home on television and on the road, traditional society has once again succeeded but a success. Since its launch in March 2017, approximately 32.3 units have been sold.

Nintendo also postponed the release of the first smartphone game "Mario Kart" on Thursday, this summer – it was to begin until the end of March. The company has long wanted its popular game characters to be available only on their own devices. But with the rise of smartphone games that slow the sales of the internal mobile console 3DS, Nintendo has reversed. Among other things, there is already a game "Super Mario" for smartphone. At the same time, sales of 3DS consoles rose from just under 5.9 to 2.3 million devices in the first nine months of the year. / So / DP / mis
