A Los Angeles rapper, Nipsey Hussle, was arrested, officials said.

Eric Holder, 29, was on the run after fleeing the scene of the shooting in a waiting car, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Hussle, 33, was shot in front of his clothing store in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Investigators believe that the shooting was the result of a "personal affair" between Mr. Holder and Hussle.

Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore told reporters that the suspect had a verbal altercation with the rapper.

Mr. Moore stated at one point that the suspect was gone, then came back with a firearm and opened fire.

Surveillance footage shows a man in a black shirt firing at least three times before fleeing, reported TMZ. Two other people were injured in the shooting.

The tributes paid tribute to the rapper whose debut album, Victory Lap, was nominated for the best rap album at this year's Grammy Awards.

Hussle, whose real name is Ermias Davidson Asghedom, grew up in South Los Angeles and was a member of the Rollin Street gang '60 in adolescence.

He later became a community organizer and participated in the Destination Crenshaw art project.

During a vigil for the singer on Monday, at least 19 people were injured – both seriously – in a wrangle, police said. One person brandished a firearm and another tried to disarm them.
