Nissan’s battery partner to spend more than $ 450 million on new plant in Japan

TOKYO, Aug.4 (Reuters) – Chinese partner Envision AESC of Nissan Motor Co (7201.T) said on Wednesday it would spend 50 billion yen ($ 460 million) to build a new battery plant in the prefecture Japanese Ibaraki, north of Tokyo.

In the long term, Envision could invest more than 100 billion yen in the plant, which would start mass production in 2024, the company said.
