Nkwanta South NDC chairman accused of stabbing NPP supporters secured 20,000 ¢ bond

Nkwanta South National Democratic Congress (NDC) President Prosper Akamani has secured a bond in the amount of GH ¢ 20,000 with two bonds.

Mr Prosper Akamani has been accused of stabbing 2 NPP supporters in Dadiase, a farming community after various celebrations following the 2020 election results.

On Wednesday December 16, Mr. Prosper Akamani appeared before the Nkwanta South Court of First Instance.

His lordship Baba Issaku Iddi of the court of first instance of Nkwanta Sud, on several appeals from Mr. Akamani’s legal representative, granted the accused a bond of GH ¢ 20,000.

Lawyer Jacob Tapunjah who spoke to JoyNews after the hearing insisted that the charges against the defendant, Prosper Akamai, had no judicial basis.

“The law says that anyone who commits an offense, even murder, is entitled to bail,” he added.

Lawyer Jacob Tapunjah said he was satisfied with the decision of the Magistrate Court.

On Monday, December 14, the NDC chairman was reprimanded in police custody after being handed over by the party’s constituency leaders.

Meanwhile, Mr. Aketai Frank, who suffered various injuries, is being treated at Nkwanta Municipal Hospital.
