Madhu Trehan, Editor-in-Chief of Newslaundry, sits with actor Huma Qureshi to discuss his upcoming Lefla series of Netflix, directed by Deepa Mehta and based on the book of the same name by Prayaag Akbar. Leila airs on Netflix on June 14th.
Huma explains why she chose to do the series and how she perceives the differences between the book and the series. She plays a character called Shalini who is looking for her daughter who was taken away years ago. Huma explains to Madhu the character and process of entering Shalini's skin. Madhu questions her on her on-screen journey, advertisements at Gangs Of Wbadeypur and the kind of tough choices she's made during the process. Huma describes for her the most fulfilling aspects of being an actor.
