Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, chief executive of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), recently under fire, was referred to as Pieri Naa by the Sankana Traditional Council.
He was honored for his selfless dedication to the development of the traditional Sankana area.
Pieri Naa means the king of rocks. According to the history, customs and traditions of the people of Sankana, Pieri Naa is the highest development title awarded to a distinguished personality with the qualities of permanence, resilience, strength and creativity.
The ceremony of Kofi Osei-Ameyaw was held in Sankana, in the far west of Ghana, during the Kalibi Tigri (Festival) of 2019.
The suzerain of Sankana's traditional council, Naa Pagranige Saakoe Mornah III, praised Kofi Osei-Ameyaw for his unfailing support for the people of Sankana.
Sankana Naa urged Kofi Osei-Ameyaw to continue his efforts to provide jobs and financial support to poor communities in Ghana.
Pieri Naa Kofi Osei-Ameyaw for her part thanked Naa Pagranige Saakoe Mornah III (Sankana Naa), the elders and the people of Sankana for the honor that she was awarded as Pieri Naa from the traditional Sankana area .
The Director General of ALN announced to the people of Sankana that GRA and ALN had recently signed an agreement to collectively expand operations to create jobs and increase revenue mobilization in accordance with to the Beyond Aid program, Ghana beyond the help of President Akufo-Addo.
Pieri Naa Kofi Osei-Ameyaw said that the National Lottery Authority would soon start piloting solar-powered electronic kiosks all over the country and that the Sankana community was chosen as one of the communities for piloting.
The e-kiosk project will create jobs for the people of Sankana, especially young people.
Kofi Osei-Ameyaw urged the people of Sankana to have absolute confidence in the government of President Akufo-Addo.
Pieri Naa Kofi Osei-Ameyaw donated money to the Sankana Traditional Council for the socio-economic development of the region.
In 2014, Kofi Osei-Ameyaw was also named Togbui Adzagba I (Precious Son of the Ground) by the Aflao Traditional Council of the Volta Region.
The traditional council of Sankana has been very grateful to Pieri Naa Kofi Osei-Ameyaw for her role as strategic development partner of the Sankana community.
