Resolution of a 30-year-old standoff between private lotto operators and the NLA is on the verge of collapse due to reckless and irresponsible conduct by some members of the Ghana Lotto Operators Association (GLOA) and its group ally known as the Concerned Lotto Agents Association of Ghana (CLAAG).
KGL does not take over NLA
The National Lottery Authority (NLA) would like to categorically state that KGL Technology Limited is not taking over from NLA.
The Minister of Finance, the Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, also confirmed this during his examination by the parliamentary appointments committee.
It is interesting to note that NLA does not create any form of monopoly for KGL Technology Limited. We therefore want to urge the media and the general public to completely ignore GLOA’s frivolous claims.
Context
For the avoidance of doubt, Keed Ghana Limited is not the same as KGL Technology Limited in terms of operations.
Keed Ghana Limited is duly authorized by the NLA to operate a dividend based game on behalf of NLA known as Lucky 3 with an official shortcode of * 987 #.
On the other hand, KGL Technology Limited is an online lotto marketing company duly authorized by the NLA to operate the 5/90 Original Lotto on behalf of the Authority with the official shorts of * 959 #.
GLOA’s allegations against KGL Technology Limited, Keed Ghana Limited and Mr. Alex Dadey are all lies, frivolous and baseless.
KGL is fully legal and recognized by NLA
KGL Technology Limited is fully legal and fully recognized by the NLA as our online lotto marketing company responsible for operating * 959 # on behalf of NLA.
The partnership between NLA and KGL Technology Limited could best be described as a GAME CHANGER, and the partnership is a million times profitable for NLA unlike the licenses issued to members of the Ghana Lotto Operators Association, including Alpha Lotto Limited.
KGL IS NOT indebted to NLA
For the avoidance of doubt, KGL Technology Limited is NOT indebted to NLA for 20 million GHC and, therefore, it is important that the media and the general public totally ignore and totally reject GLOA’s frivolous, false and unfounded claims. v KGL Technology Limited.
At KGL Cabal
Again out of ignorance, GLOA has sought to create misleading information that there is a KGL cabal with the intention of creating an online lotto monopoly for KGL Technology Limited to the detriment of the state and other operators of lotto.
KGL Technology Limited is a 100% Ghanaian company with no political attachment.
KGL Technology Limited has a perfect track record and platform which has been very helpful in NLA’s revenue mobilization efforts.
Therefore, GLOA’s attempts to link KGL Technology Limited with government appointees are quite unfortunate and should be totally ignored by the media and the general public.
Public deception
There is no hidden intention, and absolutely no “buyout” plan to sell NLA to KGL Technology Limited.
GLOA members behave simply out of ignorance, and maybe GLOA lawyers are wrongly advising them.
KGL Technology Limited is only an online lotto marketing company duly authorized by NLA and operates on behalf of NLA for the purpose of supporting the revenue generating capacity of the Authority and nothing more or less.
Attacks on private lottery operators
The NLA supports every statement that has been issued by the Public Relations Unit against the illegal activities of Alpha Lotto Limited.
Alpha Lotto Limited was illegally exploiting a shortcode and illegally performing live draws on GTV.
The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has all the power to curb illegal shortcode and illegal live draws from Alpha Lotto Limited.
License revocation
The National Lottery Authority (NLA) would not hesitate to revoke the licenses of private lottery operators who do not operate under the terms and conditions of their respective licenses.
The National Lottery Authority (NLA) as a regulator would also not allow a private lottery operator to operate a shortcode without the appropriate license from the NLA Council.
The National Lottery Authority (NLA), as a regulator, would not allow any private lottery company to conduct independent live draws on television without a drawing committee duly constituted by the NLA in accordance with the National Lottery Law 722 and Lottery Regulations 2008 (LI 1948).
Licensing of private lottery operators
The ALN would like to categorically state that the licenses issued by the Hon. Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, the former general manager of all private lotto operators, was WITHOUT BOARD APPROVAL.
Therefore, in accordance with the National Lotto Act 722 and the Lottery Regulations 2008 (LI1948), the licenses issued by the former Managing Director, Hon. Kofi Osei-Ameyaw to private lotto operators are not enshrined in law as it is ONLY THE NLA BOARD that has the power and authority to license companies or individuals who wish to operate lotto in Ghana .
NPP government must act
President Akufo-Addo is fully committed to protecting the National Lottery Authority (NLA) from collapse.
And to set the record straight, KGL Technology Limited does not owe NLA 20 million GHC.
The only recalcitrant group here is the GLOA / CLAAG members, and the ALN would like to warn the GLOA members that they cannot fight the ALN, the regulator through the media or the court and be successful.
NLA will never allow the illegal activities of certain members of GLOA and CLAAG to go bankrupt.
License status KGL Technology Limited and Keed Ghana Limited
KGL Technology Limited and Keed Ghana Limited have their respective licenses DULY APPROVED by the BOARD of NLA in accordance with the National Lotto Act 722 and the Lottery Regulations, 2008 (LI 1948).
* Status of GLOA and CLAAG license members *
All GLOA / CLAAG member licenses signed by the former Managing Director, Hon. Kofi Osei-Ameyaw were WITHOUT BOARD APPROVAL.
Allegations against the presidency, the appointees, Alex Dadey, Razak Kojo Opoku and Ernest Mote are all lies
All of the allegations by GLOA, CLAAG and their “ALLIES” against the presidency, government appointees Alex Dadey, Razak Kojo Opoku and Ernest Mote are all frivolous, false and baseless. We therefore urge the media and the general public to totally and completely ignore these amateur claims and treat them with a pinch of salt.
KGL Technology Limited has come to stay
So far all is well, the NLA is very satisfied with the KGL partnership, and absolutely no media noise from GLOA, CLAAG and their “ALLIES” would stop the partnership between NLA and KGL Technology Limited as the partnership is a GAME CHANGER and more profitable for NLA.
