Nnamdi Kanu: the Canadian Minister of Justice castigates Malami for the arrest of the leader of the IPOB

Kelechi Madu, Minister of Justice and Solicitor General of the Government of Alberta, Canada, lambasted Abubakar Malami, Nigerian Minister of Justice and Attorney General, for the re-arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB.

In an article on his LinkedIn page, Madu said that if the reports that the head of IPOB had been kidnapped in Kenya were true, Malami was a disgrace for the rule of law.

DAILY POST reports that in 2017, Kanu skipped the bond granted to him by Judge Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja, fleeing the country.

Malami, however, announced last Tuesday that the leader of the IPOB had been arrested again thanks to the concerted efforts of the Nigerian intelligence and security services.

Recall that the DSS had previously authorized Kanu’s legal team to visit the fugitive where he is being held.

Shortly after Friday night’s visit, Ejiofor said his client was arrested in Kenya on June 18 but was detained and tortured until last Sunday when he was repatriated to the country.

However, Madu believes Nigeria and Kenya violated international law the way the head of IPOB was extradited.

He wrote: “The Nigerian government led by Muhammadu Buhari to ensure the safety of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the indigenous people of Biafra. I call for his immediate release.

“Reports suggest that Mazi Kanu was kidnapped in Kenya with the active collaboration of the Kenyan government headed by President Uhuru Kenyatta. If this is true, Nigeria and Kenya have violated international law and the rule of law which is supreme in their respective countries.

“I call on the international community, and in particular @USin Nigeria, @UKinNigeria, @CanHCNigeria, @GERinNigeria, @lsraelin Nigeria and @EUinNigeria to use all their power, including diplomatic, to ensure the safety and release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. .

“The Attorney General of Nigeria, Abubakar Malami, is a disgrace to the rule of law and is not worthy of being a judicial officer. He has proven himself to be a fanatic who does not understand what it means to live in a pluralistic society governed by the precepts of the rule of law.
