"If you think your future successor will be a woman or a person of color, would you kindly reach out in the air?" Rep. Democratic Al Green interviewed the CEOs of seven of the country's largest banks. Not a single man raised his hand during his testimony before the House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday.
The CEOs were dragged to Congress for nearly seven hours to testify on a wide range of topics. The following CEOs participated in the hearings:
- Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon
- Citigroup CEO Michael Corbat
- JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon
- Morgan Stanley CEO James Gorman
- Brian Moynihan, CEO of Bank of America
- Ronald O & # 39; Hanley, CEO of State Street
- Charles Scharf, CEO of Bank of New York Mellon
Green then asked if this scenario was likely to occur in the next 10 years and the answer was different. Five CEOs raised their hands while Dimon shrugged to indicate that he had no idea. Morgan Stanley CEO James Gorman also seemed confused by the question and did not answer.
For all major banks in question, the position of general manager is appointed by a vote of the board of directors of the company.
