None of the people accused of participating in the deadliest shootout among bikers in US history will be punished, or even tried, after prosecutors said the case was a waste of time".
Nine people were killed and at least 20 wounded on May 17, 2015, when rival gangs, Bandidos and Cossacks opened fire on one another at Twin Peaks in Waco, Texas.
Since then, McLennan County prosecutors have laid charges against more than 150 people. But nearly four years later, no one was sentenced for this shooting and prosecutors gave up the trial.
District Attorney Barry Johnson on Tuesday issued a statement stating that the continuation of the case would be "a waste of time, effort and resources," the agency reported. Associated Press.
"In my opinion, if this action had been taken in time, it would have and should have resulted in many convictions and imprisonment against many participants in the Twin Peaks fight", did he declare.
"Over the next three years, the previous attorney general failed to take this step, for reasons I do not know yet."
The two groups of bikers met on a Sunday in May 2015 to discuss a possible truce under the watchful watch of 16 Texan police officers and a SWAT team of 11 people.
But the negotiations took place in the south, with gunfire and fistfights in the parking lot. All this was captured on a security band.
The tension was high because the Cossacks were refusing to pay a fee to the Bandidos for operating in Texas and sewing a patch on their jacket, claiming that Texas belonged to them, the Texas Public Security Department announced in 2015.
The police arrested 177 cyclists after the carnage ended and accused 155 of them of having participated in organized criminal activities.
Police later said they found more than 300 weapons in the Twin Peaks kitchen and some were hidden in bags of flour and chips.

Nearly four years after the shooting, prosecutors still had not sentenced the 25 bikers charged. From now on, no one will be officially held responsible for the nine deaths.
Only one of the 25 cases was judged – that of Jake Carrizal, president of the motorcycle club Dallas Bandidos. This case ended with a trial in error.
More than a hundred bikers are currently involved in lawsuits for civil rights violations, which they have brought against the police for their alleged arrest without probable cause.
