Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante (arrow) commissions the new pastors
Reverend Professor Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), said that calls for legislation to regulate the work of pastors are useless.
Rather, he said, pastors who have broken the law should be treated as criminals and punished according to the laws in force in the country.
"No law is necessary. Pastors who behave as if they were above the law and breaking the law should face the law.
If they are to be imprisoned, they should be imprisoned. If some of these pastors are imprisoned, others will sit, "he said.
The teacher. Mante delivered a sermon last Sunday for the official commission of 26 new PCG pastors at the PCG Congory Congory of the Victory in Fafraha, Adentan Municipality, Accra.
New pastors have completed bachelor's and master's degrees in theology and theology at the Trinitarian Theological Seminary.
No preferential treatment

But Reverend Prof Mante said that the focus should be on the enforcement of existing laws in the country and not on the promulgation of new laws.
He said pastoralists had been given too much weight in the country and that had made some without law.
"There should be no preferential treatment for pastoralists. If they break the law, they should be treated.
As a moderator of the PCG, I should be treated if I do anything against the law, "he said.
Do not be false pastors
The teacher. Mantis advised newly appointed pastors not to join the band of false pastors who had abandoned the moral principles of Christianity and instead capitalized on the weaknesses and vulnerability of people to enrich themselves.
"An important character of the mind is the character.
A pastor who misses it has missed all the Christian faith.
"There are too many false pastors, do not just add to this list.
The PCG will not tolerate any pastor who decides to use dubious means.
If you want to become a false pastor, go build your own church, but not in the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, "he warned.
Appreciation
Reverend Daniel Kwesi Opoku, representing mandated pastors, congratulated the General Assembly, the various congregations of the PCG and the members of the pastors' families for their support of their studies.
"We thank you all for the tremendous support we have received throughout our three years on campus.
You have been with us since day one and you continue to support us, "he said.
