Member of Parliament for Odododiodio Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuije believes former President John Dramani Mahama will be the NDC flag bearer in the 2024 general election.
He said that no competitor will reach 1%.
“About 137 of the NDC representatives from different constituencies in parliament have their support for Mahama.
“As far as I know, I am certain that John Mahama is our standard bearer for the 2024 general election. Not that we don’t have competent people in our fold, but it is the one that we have marketed and he is the one that Ghanaians know and understand about governance, ”he said in an interview on“ Face to Face ”with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Citi TV.
Reacting to the controversial “Do or Die” comment from the former president, Odododiodio’s lawmaker noted that people had misinterpreted the statement.
According to him, the comment was intended to encourage men and women to abandon the status quo and to be extra vigilant at polling stations to ensure that no votes are stolen in 2024.
HE John Dramani Mahama last week on his Thanksgiving Tour said the 2024 general election will be a “Do or Die” affair.
The comment was condemned by the New Patriotic Party calling for retraction and apologies.
But the former president and the NDC refused to back down, explaining that it is an idiomatic expression.
