Brussels Airport is currently experiencing technical problems with the baggage handling system this Saturday morning, when it will probably be the busiest day at the airport.
According to the latest information, some 30 aircraft have already left Brussels without the luggage of their pbadengers and delays were expected on the other flights from 9:00.
The problem – the third in recent weeks – appeared for the first time around 6 am this morning and urgent repairs were undertaken. They had to be finished at 9 am, when flights would take off again with the pbadengers' baggage. However, to make sure, flights will have to be delayed, the airport said.
The luggage of pbadengers who left Brussels before the end of the repairs will be delivered later today or tomorrow. Some 83,000 pbadengers are expected to spend today through the airport, one of the busiest departure days on vacation and the busiest of the year for the airport.
"We deeply regret this situation, "said Brussels Airport in a message posted on its website. "Our teams are doing their best to repair the system as quickly as possible and to limit the impact on our pbadengers. Normal operations will be possible this afternoon. "
UPDATE: Brussels Airport has announced that the problem with the baggage system has been resolved and that the system has restarted. "We deeply regret this situation. We expect normal operations to be possible around noon, "said the airport on its website.
