A former majority leader and sitting Zebilla MP Cletus Avoka said internal feuds within the Democratic National Congress, NDC, have been resolved.
He said the issues that created an apparent rift between the NDC parliamentary caucus and party leadership were the result of poor communication, adding that all outstanding issues had been resolved and a new roadmap agreed.

“At first there was a communication gap between the caucus and the party leadership that explained some of these public statements that some officials might have made.
“Certainly we MPs know that we owe our allegiance to the party which is supreme and no one in Parliament or outside is bigger than the party, so we pledge to respect the views of the party,” he said. he declared.
He further indicated that a new structure had been adopted after a meeting between the two groups to prevent the occurrence of such development in the future.
“So I think what happened was a communication breakdown between the party leadership and the minority leadership, but we were able to iron out the issues and are resolved to work together for victory in 2024.
“The caucus met with the National Executives and the Council of Elders one day after recess and this is the road map we have adopted for ourselves.
“The past is over, and we must work as a team, we must create a level playing field with constant communication and work in the interests of the party and of Ghana as a whole,” he added.
The recent resignation of North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa from the parliamentary appointments committee according to him for “personal and principled reasons” follows weeks of disenchantment on the part of the party’s infantry.

Appearing on a recent episode of Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana, he said he voted against some of the president’s cabinet candidates, including the Minister of Information, because it was the expectation of the base of his party.
He further explained that despite being in Parliament under Ghana’s democratic practice, the vehicle that sent him to Parliament is the NDC, so this is where his loyalty lies first.
“I am not in Parliament on the ticket of democracy, I am in Parliament on the NDC ticket. For democracy to materialize, there needs to be a political party. There is a vehicle that brought me here, this vehicle is not democracy, ”he said.
“People are free to do it. But like I said, given my orientation and my belief, and my education in the NDC, I believe my first loyalty is the party. And every time I write on social media, I always say my loyalty and loyalty goes to my party and my country, ”said the MP.
“The country exists because there is a party. The democracy we have if there is no political party, do you have a democracy? Can you have a democracy without a political party? He asked.
