Kofi Adda Soe43 Minister of Aviation, Mr. Joseph Kofi Adda

The Minister of Aviation, Mr. Joseph Kofi Adda, denied knowing of his team's proposal to hand over the management of Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to a private company.

However, he said his office was open to discussions that would help improve the strengths of the country's first airport and other state facilities.

"First of all, I did not see anything credible about the so-called privatization of KIA, until I know that there is little to say on this subject," Adda told the media at a breakfast organized by Aviation Ghana on April 16 in Accra.

The minister was reacting to a story that was circulating in the media and cited a draft memorandum to Cabinet suggesting that the Aviation Ministry intended to transfer the management of KIA to a private company, Tav Airport Holding Company Limited.

However, Mr Adda denied having been aware of such an initiative from his department, stating that "for the moment, nothing like it on the table".
