The return of the AFL at Harley Bennell will have to wait at least a week, said coach Ross Lyon

FREMANTLE coach Ross Lyon will not be tempted to bring back Harley Bennell on Saturday to face Collingwood at the MCG despite his remarkable return to the WAFL.

And Lyon supported forward-thinking rookie Jesse Hogan to hit the dashboard shortly after beating the first time of his career in 80 games against Brisbane.

In his first game of the season after numerous calf dramas, Bennell scored 30 hits and started two goals in Peel's tight loss to West Perth.

But Lyon has put a damper on the conversation, suggesting that the former Sun, hurt by the injury, needs more time in the WAFL.

"He just needs to keep building," Lyon told Channel Seven.

"Really glad to have made a comeback, he just needs to keep building."

Lyon was delighted with Hogan's efforts in the one-point victory over the Lions after the mermaid, as the star-studded player had eight home runs – a week after breaking the score at 1.4. defeat against Essendon.

The ex-Demons cannon scored eight goals in nine games in purple – after scoring 152 goals in 71 games for Melbourne – and Lyon are confident the goals will be met.

"I thought that during the last quarter time he had really progressed, made some great competitions and got involved a little bit higher," Lyon said.

"Some of our attackers did not share their space as well as we should have.

"He was brilliant the week before.

"He has contributed in a way that we appreciate, so I'm sure the goals will be achieved."

The Dockers received positive news on the injury front on Tuesday, while the young man of confidence Sean Darcy is recovering remarkably from an ankle complaint.

Darcy was expelled for only 4-6 weeks seven days ago, but could return for Peel on Sunday against Subiaco.

COMPLETE LIST OF INJURIES Who is excluded and who is a test?

"We had to initially make a very conservative badessment of Sean's return date, he had a pretty serious mechanism (how the injury had been suffered) and his initial presentation was pretty bad," said Jason Weber, senior manager of high performance.

"The level of treatment that Sean received from Marshall Stockton (Rehabilitation Physiotherapist), as well as his request – we are talking 20 hours a day – they worked very hard."

Veteran striker Hayden Ballantyne is also a chance to return, almost certainly to Peel.

The interesting striker has not been seen at the AFL since the first round of his thigh, and suffered a setback in his return leg against the Thunder five weeks ago.

Stephen Hill (quad) is only two weeks away from his return, but the Dockers have again The young Luke Valente, lost in the groin, has been worried for three weeks.

"He had them on his arrival at the club and we did not manage to overtake them," said Weber.
