The management of the rent control department called it fake, reports that its Amasaman office has been locked down due to non-payment of rent.
“None of our offices have been locked. No rent arrears issues have been reported to the head office with respect to any of our rented offices, ”said a press release issued today in Accra.
The state agency responsible for regulating rent and lease issues said the report was purposely circulated to portray the department in a bad light.
“It is evident that the deliberate dissemination of these rumors is intended to portray the Department in a negative light. Management wishes to inform the general public that there is no iota of truth in the rumor, ”reads the statement signed by the Director of Rentals, Mr. Twum Ampofo.
The Rent Control Department has categorically stated that it has not rented any office space from the alleged owner, Joseph Nsiah Abugri.
The department therefore urged Ghanaians to ignore rumors about the “alleged” lockdown.
The statement stressed that the rent control department will always comply with the provisions of Law 220 by NOT paying more than six months rent in advance to a landlord.
