Reuters reports that the flames spread from the roof of the building and engulfed the summit, as firefighters strove to contain the situation.
Due to the tragedy, President Emmanuel Macron has postponed his speech to the nation scheduled for Monday, April 15th. A presidential official said that Macron was to go to the scene of the fire.
On the incident, Mayor Anne Hidalgo said: "A terrible fire is under way at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris." Journalists reveal that development is treated by the police as an accident.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh reported that the Kano State Fire Department had declared that 35 temporary stores had been razed by a fire at the Kurmin Yan-nama market, in the state.
Service spokesman Alhaji Saidu Mohammed confirmed the incident while he was talking to reporters in Kano on Sunday, April 14th.
