The country's two largest political parties – the NPP and the NDC – have agreed to embark on deliberations to dissolve all militia groups affiliated with them.

This decision was made after a meeting between representatives of both sides, negotiated Tuesday by the National Peace Council in Accra, on the dismantling of such groups in the country, proposed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In a statement issued at the conclusion of the first meeting of the Peace Council, it is stated that both parties agreed to deliberate.
