Angry young people in Salaga set fire to the headquarters of the nuclear power plant on Tuesday night
The North Regional Secretariat of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has condemned the skirmishes in Salaga Township following the designation of Damongo capital of the Savannah region.
Some angry young people from the region in protest went out of their way shortly after the official announcement and set fire to the South Salaga constituency office.
They also destroyed other props and attempted to burn the official residence of the district chief.
Seven suspects were arrested to badist the police in his investigations.
In a statement, the regional secretariat of the NPP condemned this despicable act and described the development as useless.
Regional Secretary Sulley Sambian said the issue should be de-politicized and urged security guards to be more vigilant.
"It should be emphasized that the exercise of the executive powers of the state belongs to the President for and on behalf of the Ghanaian people.The creation of regions and the decision of their capitals are the exercise of this executive power . "

He stressed that "in light of the above, the party in the region does not only condemn the actions of youth, regardless of its political color, but stands ready to badist the police in its investigations".

He advised the young people of Salaga to show the greatest restraint in dealing with their grievances.
According to him, creating new regions is about decentralizing governance and creating more opportunities for young people.
