Ken Ofori-Atta said the situation weighed heavily on the country's economy.

Answering questions in Parliament, Ofori-Atta revealed that the country's debt of judgment amounted to more than 679 million GhC, of ​​which more than 280 million were paid.

Ofori-Atta said the government is pursuing measures to reduce judgment-related debts.

"This is a deplorable development in our country and can disrupt our budget," said the Minister of Finance.

He added, "The government's approach is to renegotiate most of these debts in court and to make sure we save as much as we can … and in one case we have saved some $ 90 million. GhC to the taxpayer.

He pointed out that the payment of judgment debt represented a cost to the taxpayer and that, as a result, the government had decided to minimize costs by strengthening the Attorney General's service.
