NPP Fair Women's Health March
The Loyal Ladies, a volunteer-only women's group under the youth wing of the new Patriotic Party (NPP), have embarked on a health march as part of its anniversary commemoration.
The participants in the march and carnival were members of the regional branch of the group in the Greater Accra region, as well as other members of the party.
The walk started at 6 am, from Okponglo to the University of Ghana, Atomic Junction, and ended at Legon Botanical Gardens for aerobics and funfair.
The participants, who were mostly women and members of the NPP's Loyal Ladies and numbering nearly 500, were also coached through a series of motivational discussions after the march.
Adwoa Pomaah Sanwu, vice president of the loyal faithful of the NPP, said the march was meant to celebrate their achievements since their creation in March 2016.
She explained that their great success as a budding group was to win the 2016 general election convincingly for their party.
Asked about their role in the 2016 national elections, she said the group had traveled the country to mobilize support for the party, adding that it was the support they had received from women in the country that had allowed victory.
Ms. Pomaah Sanwu said her basic mandate as a group within the party was to serve as an incubator to train progressive women for the party and for the country.
She said that, in addition to the fact that the march and the funfair will interact and deepen the relations between the members, they will also use it as an opportunity to plan the elections of 2020.
She urged all participants and members of her party to stay in shape by exercising regularly and adopting good health habits.
