The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened the window for parliamentary deputies to choose nomination forms in the party's constituency offices to attend the parliamentary primaries in September.

The national director of party research and elections, Mr. Evans Nimako, declared Saturday, July 20, 2019 that the process was to end on August 3, 2019.

He added that interested parties are expected to pay 2,000 GHS on behalf of the party to the bank and submit the banker's project prior to acquiring the forms. Candidates are also expected to submit a GST 20,000 banker project when they apply by August 3, 2019.

In an exclusive interview with Clbad91.3FM in Tamale, Mr. Nimako, Process Manager for the Northern Region, said that a 50% discount would be given to people with disabilities, candidates and youth under the age of 40. years.

He added that national party officials had been badigned to all regions of the country to facilitate the conduct of parliamentary elections. He explained that a constituency parliamentary election committee had been responsible for selling the forms in the 106 constituencies participating in the ballot.

Mr. Nimako added that a National Parliamentary Control Commission chaired by Mr. Peter Mac Manu had been created and tasked with receiving petitions from injured members who might be disqualified.

He revealed that the form contained a binding clause obliging candidates to sign a contract with the party in the presence of two eyewitnesses of the candidate. This, he explained, aims to ensure that after the process, candidates will not be able to run as independent candidates in the 2020 general election.

He added, "We want to do this to clean up our own arrangements. We made the process very transparent and that is why we met with members of the Northern Parliamentary Election Committee today, including the Council of Elders of these ridings, the leaders of research and elections as secretaries of the committee and an elderly woman from these constituencies. know what is expected of them to be able to do their job diligently. "

He revealed that the NPP was aiming to add 45 seats to the 169 seats won in 2016.

"We want to elect people who like the people, who will be supported by the people so that the campaign for 2020 is an activity for everyone. We want to expand the consultation process so that everyone participates in the decision-making process to choose the candidate.
