Proponents of the new Patriotic Party (NPP) in power in the central region protested against their regional president.

They accuse President Robert Kutin of making unfair decisions against some party leaders in the region.

According to angry protesters, President Kutin would be the cause of the party cracks in the region.

They added that the party could lose the 2020 elections if President Kutin did not resign.

Some angry protesters who spoke to Citi News on Thursday said that if the suspended vice president of the party, Ekow Horace Ewudzi, was to be reinstated if the party wanted to win the 2020 elections.

"They must reinstate Ekow Horace Awudzi if they want to win the general election," an angry protester told Citi News.

Amos Nyarko, chairman of the NPP's youth wing at Abura Asebu Kwamankwse, explained that Article 11, paragraph 44, of the party's constitution clearly states the procedures for dismissal of an elected member, adding that nowhere in the constitution is a regional president entitled to suspend a colleague. member without recourse to party disciplinary procedures.

"It is written nowhere in our constitution that the president can dismiss his first vice president," said president of Angry Kwamankese youth wing Abse Asebu Kwamankese.

"After the demonstration today, we go to the party headquarters to petition President Akufo-Addo," he said.

NPP supporters ask for direction

Meanwhile, dozens of supporters of the central region's NPP region on Thursday besieged the party's headquarters in Accra to petition to cancel the suspension of the first vice-president of the region, Horace Ekow Ewusi.

Supporters from 23 constituencies in the region accused the party's regional president, Robert Kutin, of hiding behind a faceless applicant, Edward Okraku Adum, who suspended the first vice president, whom he considered a threat to his position as president.

Ekow Ewusi was suspended Monday by the president of the NPP's central region, after refusing to respond to a petition accusing him of indulging in criminal acts, including drug trafficking, the escape of 39, a prison in the UK, as well as the illegal auction of excavators seized on mining sites.

Mr Ekow Ewusi was last week at the center of a controversy following a complaint lodged against him by a certain Kraku Adum.
