The Kplejoo is traditionally celebrated as a precursor to the annual Homowo festival celebrated by other Ga lineages in the Greater Accra region, during which the traditional priest and priestesses perform various rites in honor of the gods and pray for abundant food and a harvest of fish. It is a celebration based on songs and drumming that sees the locals singing special songs and performing a special activity called "Obeneshimo" which means the journey of the Ga people of Israel to its settlements current.

Over the years, the festival rich in culture and history has been celebrated a bit quiet, but all of this is about to change, as Nungua's chiefs and locals prepare to make Kplejoo a national celebration with huge benefits for tourism and creative arts from July 2019!
