The National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, has called on the federal government to dialogue with the Nigerian Islamic Movement, IMN, to prevent further bloodshed.
In a statement by its president, Bello Bala Shagari, the organization states that recent clashes between the IMN, also known as Shiite, and the government are calling for serious concern.
His words: "We want to express our concern at the tense relations between the government and the Islamic movement in Nigeria (Shiites) following the detention of their leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.
"Recent clashes between security agencies and Protestant supporters in Zakzaky call for security in the country. He has recorded dozens of injuries, deaths and destruction of property on both sides. We are afraid that the protest will go beyond what it is today. Unfortunately, most of the protesters are young people who could have participated in other productive activities.

We believe that it is better for the government to open a dialogue with Sheikh Zakzaky's supporters in order to end the clashes in a peaceful manner.
"Although we realize that the government has its own reason for keeping Sheikh Zakzaky in detention, it will be important to engage with his supporters in order to reach a compromise that satisfies all parties.
"Young Nigerians do not want escalating grievances that could excuse terrorizing ordinary Nigerians and harming our future.Nigeria is fed up with terrorism and violence.
"We therefore appeal to His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari, who has shown wisdom to take decisive action in this matter, in the best interests of all Nigerians, so that our affairs are smooth and smooth. peacefully at the next level.
"We wish we did not have to talk about it, but our desire for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria forced us to do it."
