The management of Nyinahin Catholic High School is expected to set up a committee to examine the fire last Friday, which burned down part of the boys’ dormitory.
The fire that burned down six rooms is believed to have been started by former students of the school after their final homework last week.
Reports say the students were angry at claims that the school administration did not allow them to cheat in the just ended WASSCE.
Items, including school uniforms, food boxes and other learning materials, were destroyed.
Nyinahin chief Nana Amampene Twum Boateng II, who attended the scene, said any student who played a role in the alleged arson should be brought to justice.
He wants a committee to be set up immediately to investigate the incident.
“It’s so pathetic; why set the school on fire when we went through the school walls? It is unthinkable that someone who has just left school comes back to burn the school down.
“We met with the District Director General (DCE) and other stakeholders, and we decided that as soon as possible, a committee should be set up to investigate; it is essential ”, declared the chief.
Speaking to the student body, the school principal, Emma Amoateng Mensah, revealed the arrangements being made to help the affected students.
“Whenever we get support, as the chief has promised, we will provide it to you. The school runs into town looking for a ball of white shirts; everyone who is affected, we will try to give you some.
“We have Nyinahin citizens who brought us computers. We’re going to call them and tell them that’s what happened, and you will get support, ”she said.
Although no student casualties were recorded in the blaze, a firefighter was assaulted by strangers who fled the scene after the blaze had been dealt with.
