The Association of Human Rights Writers of Nigeria, HURIWA, has warned the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, not to go after the friends and allies of billionaire businessman Obinna Iyiegbu, commonly known as Obi Cubana.
HURIWA’s national coordinator Emmanuel Onwubiko said CBN should leave those who abused the naira during the funeral of Obi Cubana’s mother.
Onwubiko said the CBN should denounce those who fund banditry and Fulani armed militias instead of going after Obi Cubana and his friends.
In a statement, the activist said spraying naira during the Obi Cubana event should not be a problem as there are other events where the naira is abused.
It’s fake news – FG denies asking Obi Cubana for a loan
He said: “The fact that friends and supporters who attended the event decided to show their appreciation to Mr. Obi Cubana, we from the Association of Human Rights Writers of Nigeria believe that this should not become the topic of discussion.
“The Central Bank of Nigeria, under the current waiver, should instead be tasked by the media to address the much more worrying issue of terrorist financing and how the armed kidnappers made up of Northern Fulani militias are leading the way. their terrorism-related activities. “
Obi Cubana had buried his mother this weekend in Oba, Anambra state.
The town’s funeral speech saw the King’s allies of hospitality and nightlife pulverize money with reckless abandon.
Their action led to insinuations that the billionaire businessman and his friends made their money through rituals.
However, Obi Cubana dismissed such innuendo, pointing out that his friends are hard-working businessmen.
Their action was contrary to the directive on the treatment of naira set by the CBN.
