Scarlet was born three months before term and was treated for intestinal problems with antibiotics that damaged her hearing.

Carol Benjamin did not know until recently that her daughter's hearing was actually impaired, but she had the proof last week when the family had the baby's delighted reaction to clearly hear the voice of her older sister for the first time.
As the girl's reaction was invaluable, her mother posted the Scarlet video using hearing aids at Atlanta Hearing Associates in Milledgeville, Georgia.
Benjamin called the event "one of the best absolute days of our lives".
