The Obuasi Municipal Assembly (OMA) was ranked eleventh (11th) in the 2020 National Ranking of Municipal and Metropolitan District Assemblies (MMDA) Annual Performance Contract of Government Services across the country.
The Assembly was also ranked second (2nd) in the Ashanti region after achieving honorable performance in key performance areas including general administration, human resource management, financial management, reporting and management. infrastructure as well as social services, economic development, environment and sanitation.
Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive Hon.Elijah Adansi-Bonah, while interacting with the Information Services Department, thanked the management, Assembly members and staff of the OMA for working diligently to ensure that the Assembly achieves this feat. He said: “I am really delighted that our hard work has paid off. It is indeed a remarkable achievement, we all deserve a pat on the back ”.
The Honorable Adansi-Bonah further called on the management, staff and members of the Assembly not to rest on their oars but rather to redouble their efforts to enable the Assembly to perform better in the subsequent rankings. .
The Director of Municipal Coordination, Mr. Francis Dwira Darko, also congratulated the leadership and staff of the Assembly for their dedication to duty. He congratulated them on their success but added that there is still room for improvement.
“The management and the staff have worked very hard to get to our current position and will not relax but will instead make more efforts to move further into the next ranking,” he added.
Mr. Dwira Darko called for the support and cooperation of the people of Obuasi as the Assembly is doing its best to fulfill its mandate to improve their livelihoods. He appealed to the general public to promptly pay the Assembly its duties, taxes and tolls.
The MMDA 2020 Performance Contract
The monitoring and verification exercise was for the year 2020 based on the performance contract of the local government service of the 16 regional coordination councils (CRC) and the 260 metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDA).
Ranking is essential to monitor and verify the annual performance of RCCs and MMDAs based on their annual performance assessment reports from performance contracts signed between RMs and RCDs at regional level as well as MMDCEs and MMDCDs at regional level. local.
