DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – People may have been exposed to measles in a Durham daycare and coffee shop, after which the County Health Authorities conducted an investigation.

Officials have not confirmed a positive case at a press conference on Monday. They are waiting for additional tests from a national laboratory, but said the preliminary tests done locally were positive.

The two possible exhibition sites are Bean Traders Coffee and the Goddard School. Officials reported working with staff at the Goddard School to determine if students and staff are vaccinated.

The Durham County Public Health Department said Saturday that it was informing the public "out of caution".

"We do not want measles," said Durham resident Steve Quessy. "It can be very serious."

Quessy said that he had measles when he was younger.

"You have a rash, all your skin is covered with redness," said Quessy. "You felt just miserable. It's like having the flu. "

On Saturday, Bean Traders Coffee posted a statement on Instagram stating: "We are sad that this is happening in our store. We are diligent with our employees' own health policies to ensure the safety of our public. "

There have been three cases of measles in North Carolina in 2018. There have not been any cases until almost half of 2019.
