Officials warn of possible exposure following confirmation of measles in southern Alberta
The person was active in many public places in Calgary and Cochrane starting March 5th.
Health officials said one case of infectious measles had been confirmed in southern Alberta and urged people potentially at risk to be vaccinated.
Alberta Health Services reported that the person with the rash virus was active in many public places in Calgary and Cochrane as of March 5th.
Last Tuesday, the visitor visited places including Cabela Sporting Goods Store, Grub Deerfoot City Restaurant, and Mount Royal University's Bella Concert Hall.
The health agency said people likely to have been exposed that day should go to a vaccination clinic at Brentwood Mall in Calgary on Friday.
It indicates that people who may have been exposed before that date are no longer eligible for a preventative vaccine, but must contact a health care provider.
People born after 1970 who have not had measles and who have not received two doses of vaccine are at risk of contracting the virus.
At least 17 cases of measles have been identified in the Greater Vancouver area over the last few weeks in an outbreak related to a French school.
