Attorney General Asiamah Sampong described the request as frivolous and unfounded.
Prosecutors still had to move the case, hence the dismissal of the motion, said the trial judge.
In the meantime, Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo has filed a motion to suspend the judicial proceedings in the same case.
His lawyer, Mr. Tony Lithur, announced the filing of the application after Monday's hearing.
But the court ignored Mr. Lithur and proceeded to hear the case. The trial judge explained that he was not aware of such a request.
The first prosecution witness, however, was not present in court, which forced him to adjourn the case to 23 July.
