Ole Gunnar Solskjær believes that Manchester United is about to make a breakthrough on David de Gea's contract.
The Spanish goalkeeper was stuck in talks during the summer. United has presented a last improved offer of over £ 350,000 a week.
It is believed that the new conditions will be enough to convince the 28-year-old to put an end to the uncertainty about his future and to commit to a four-year contract, with an option of another 12 months.
Solskjær said: "David has spent the summer in negotiations and we hope everything will be settled. I am positive.
"With David, I have often repeated how lucky I am and happy to have it at goal.
De Gea was good enough to become United's highest paid player, tied with Alexis Sanchez, at around £ 450,000 a week.
While United is ready to make it the highest paid goalkeeper in the world, they are reluctant to commit to another contract of this size.
But optimism grew and a compromise could be found, the club's chief negotiator, Matt Judge, continuing discussions with De Gea's agent, Jorge Mendes, throughout the summer.

United knows this window is his last chance to make a lot of money for De Gea, who will be free to talk to foreign clubs from January.
But they are adamant that they will not sell, even if they do not reach an agreement before the start of the season – and are willing to risk losing it for nothing as they continue to try their luck.
