Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted that Dani Alves knew what he was doing after being the tackle receiver who saw Paul Pogba deported.
The French midfielder's maestro was fired for a second yellow card in United's 2-0 home defeat against Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford.
Pogba met Alves in the final stages while he was trying to reach Luke Shaw's pbad and was beaten to the ball by the Brazilian.
Solskjaer believes that his man was unlucky, claiming that Alves had put himself in a position that would leave Pogba unable to avoid the challenge.
"Yes, it's (unlucky)," said Solskjaer.
"He's trying to get his body through and Alves is smart enough to put his foot in it so it hits him."
"I know Paul just wants to protect the ball, and then he's out of luck and hits him on the knee."
Solskjaer also admitted that the defeat was a "reality check" after a series of 11 undefeated matches to begin his reign as acting leader.

"They had the momentum after the first goal and controlled the match," he said.
"You can see that we have not played at this level for a while and we will have to learn.
"It's an experience that can go one way or the other, it will not be a season that will define one, we will learn from it."
"The mountains are here to be climbed, you can not go to sleep and say it's over, we'll go, play our game and improve from today.
"Today is a reality test for us."
