Olivier Giroud said that Maurizio Sarri's criticisms of the team after the 2-0 defeat at Arsenal were well-founded, but that the players were resolutely opposed to convincing Tottenham in the semifinals of the Carabao Cup.
The World Cup winner, who had already left the bench in the defeat against Arsenal, but started in the shootout win over Tottenham, acknowledged that the players had to accept Sarri's questioning of their mentality and their Motivational abilities last weekend.
When asked if it was right, Giroud replied: "Yes, I mean you can see from the start that you're not really in the game when you miss pbades and you lose duels. It's the first thing in football. We did not want to talk about it too much, but we knew we wanted to have a strong reaction.

OLIVIER IS A HOT CHARM IN WEMBLEY
Chelsea nicknamed Olivier Giroud their lucky charm for the Carabao Cup next month because of his perfect P7 W7 record in the Wembley final.
He played in the wins of Arsenal in 2014, 2015 and 2015, as well as in Chelsea 's victory last year. He also won three Community Shields, but missed Chelsea's defeat last August.
& # 39; We had to show something else [against Tottenham]: strong character, team character, the team monster in the field. We immediately showed that we wanted to bounce back. We pressed the ball well to cover it and the boss still talks about it. & # 39;
Chelsea will face Sheffield Wednesday in the fourth round of the FA Cup, and Giroud said the players had talked about the needed improvement.
"We are professionals, we know we can play well and we need to do more," he said.
"We talked to each other, but then you have to put the action on the stage."
Maurizio Sarri was very critical of his players after defeating Arsenal 2-0 last weekend.
