Years and Years’ last studio album as an original trio was Lignum vitae. Released via Polydor Records, the eclectic concept album has been widely hailed for its sound experimentation and world premiere. In a five-star review, NME’s El Hunt wrote, “Coming out on a night of intense sadness on glitter-soaked tiles, Lignum vitae connects the intense escape of pop music to the sanctuary sought after by the queer community in its own sacred and special spaces.
“From start to finish, Years & Years adores the triple altars of hedonism, religious iconography and guilt-tinged lust. Dirty, sexy and completely debauched pop at its best; Lignum vitae looks like a magic album.
