440 million people have installed applications infected with BeiTaAd.

According to the Ars Technica report, the BeiTaAd adware was hidden in a total of 238 apps available in the Google Play Store. These applications have been installed by more than 440 million people. Fraudsters have therefore collected a lot of money.

These scams are spreading at a fast pace. Part of the problem is that infected applications do not generate any errors at first, their behavior changes only 1 to 2 days or 1 to 2 weeks later.

Once the hidden adware has started, the BeiTaAd plug-in will immediately begin to appear, but not in applications, but on a locked display – with audio and video.

Some complain that the plugin is irrevocable, others talk about useless mobile in forums.

The security company Lookout, according to Google, announced that the giant had immediately removed the programs badociated with the Chinese program CooTek. But no one knows why the Google Play Protect Protection System has not noticed it for months.
