Liverpool fans have praised Michael Edwards’ work after the club confirmed the signing of Ozan Kabak from Schalke.
The Turkish center-back becomes the Reds’ second signing of the transfer deadline following the capture of Ben Davies from Preston North End.
Kabak joins Liverpool on an initial loan deal until the end of the season and ECHO understands Jurgen Klopp’s side have the option to buy for £ 18million in June.
Liverpool will pay a loan fee of around £ 1million for his services for the remainder of the season, with an additional potential of £ 500,000 in extras based on Champions League appearances and performances.
With the Reds unable to spend much money to deal with their center-back injury crisis, acquiring Davies and Kabak at an initial cost of £ 1.5million was seen as shrewd by the companies by the partisans, who demanded reinforcements.
After back-to-back Premier League wins and two new faces through the door, fans are in a positive mood following Kabak’s arrival.
“Yes Dave was already very, very positive about him,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com after the club confirmed Kabak’s arrival.
“He came to Germany very young and everyone was clear that he was a huge talent.
“He’s only 20 years old now. He plays in his second club [in Germany]; he’s in Schalke and unfortunately they’re in bad shape at the moment. For him I think it’s a great time to take action because like every player in the world you need a stable team around you and that’s what we can offer you.
“We provide a stable team and you can play your position, you don’t have to be 20 with just about everything on the pitch and you are not allowed to make mistakes anymore.
“He’s a really great talent and we can’t wait to work with him.”
