Cbadys market specialists have released their figures on the European smartphone market in 2018. As a result, smartphone sales in Europe in 2018 decreased by 4% to 197 million units. Samsung delivered the largest number of units to 61.6 million units, but decreased by 10%. Apple sold 6% less with 42.8 million devices. Meanwhile, Huawei increased sales in Europe by 54% in 2018, reaching 42.5 million units. Xiaomi and HMD Global – both equally Chinese – finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Thus, 32% of all smartphones sold in Europe in 2018 came from China. In 2017, there was still 24% and in 2013, only 11%.
In the fourth quarter, the decline in Europe was 2.3%, reaching 56.6 million devices. Samsung's decline in the fourth quarter was 1%, to 16.2 million units. Apple lost 14.7 million 5.1%. Huawei 13.3 million and 55.7%, Xiaomi with 3.4 million or even 62%. At the same time, HMD Global lost 18.3% in Q4 (1.3 million devices).
